Irish Funds Market Update Q2 2021

Recruitment activity was at an all-time high in quarter 2 and we were delighted to see the return of alfresco meetings.

It is a candidate driven market with candidates spoilt for choice and receiving multiple offers from employers of choice.

What is driving recruitment activity?

  • The new entrant management company space shows no sign of slowing down.
  • CBI requirements for increased substance is still a big driver, existing firms with substantial Assets Under Management built out experienced teams to support their Designated persons in Quarter 2.
  • There was a significant increase in fund risk, compliance and investment management mandates available in Quarter 2. We are now fast approaching a time where the demand for talent outstrips supply. The PCF Compliance market in particular is extremely tight.
  • US Investment Management firms who plan to grow AUM in Europe setting up or expanding operations in Ireland.
  • Global Assets under Management continue to grow and as a result of this there was a significant increase in revenue generating mandates in quarter 2
  • Several Private Markets fund administration new entrants on the back of the Investment Limited Partnership (Amendment) Bill 2020. The sector experienced a surge in senior level recruitment activity across fund accounting, investor services and depositary in Quarter 2.
  • Distribution is one of the most exciting careers emerging post Brexit and there was a significant increase in distribution mandates in Quarter 2.

  • Fineco – Fixed Income Portfolio Manager
  • Tobam – Multi Asset Portfolio Manager
  • PIMCO – VP Trade Compliance
